The Talking Stick

CASAKALA WOGLAKE

The talking stick is an American Indian tradition that facilitated communication at Tribal council meetings.  The talking stick was handed from one member to the next as a way to share out of respect each members thoughts, ideas, and concerns.  The talking stick was important to ensure that all Tribal members would share equally in the discussion within the circle at the meeting.
